Calf training and why Inwards and Outwards

People see me training my calfโ€™s and ask why I turn my feet in and out ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

When training the calves, understanding the distinction between inversion and eversion movements is crucial.

ย

inwards ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

Inversion involves lifting the inner edge of the foot, primarily engaging the tibialis anterior and to some extent the calf muscles, particularly the soleus.

Outwards ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

Eversion, on the other hand, entails lifting the outer edge of the foot, targeting muscles like the peroneals located on the outer part of the lower leg.

Aim ๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿป

While traditional calf exercises such as calf raises primarily focus on plantarflexion, which is the downward motion of the foot, incorporating inversion and eversion exercises can enhance overall lower leg strength, improve ankle stability, and reduce the risk of injury.

This holistic approach ensures a more comprehensive development of the lower leg muscles, leading to better balance and functional movement in everyday activities and sports.

ย

like I always like to say go through various aspects of each muscle and various weights in high reps, high weight, slow reps and pause reps etcย

ย

we want to be strong through all rep ranges!ย
