Hamstring training - lying vs seated curls

I get asked on many occasions what’s the difference between the two machines so 👇🏻

The primary difference between the Lying Leg Curl and the Seated Leg Curl lies in their body positioning and muscle activation patterns.

In the Lying Leg Curl, the individual lies face down on a bench, which tends to involve more of the lower hamstring near the knee, providing a fuller range of motion.

It also subtly engages the glutes and lower back. The Seated Leg Curl, on the other hand, has the individual sitting upright. This position tends to place more focus on the upper part of the hamstrings, while also slightly involving the calf muscles due to the angle of resistance.

The seated position can be more comfortable for those with lower back issues. Both variations effectively target the hamstrings, but the change in body position alters the emphasis slightly within the muscle group.

basically try and get both of these within your programming, if there’s none of these machines in your gym maybe move gym 😂 no - there’s plenty of free weight / barbell options to hit the hamstrings.
